Abstract submission guidelines

These guidelines aim to ensure a consistent, transparent submission, review, and publication process aligned with the standards of our Scientific Society. Abstract submission implies full acceptance of these conditions.

Basic information

  • The dedline for receiving abstracts is 26th of April, 2026, at 23:59h (Madrid time).
  • All abstracts should be sent through the form on the congress website. Abstracts sent in any other way will not be accepted.
  • When sending your abstract, you will receive an email confirming receipt and you can check the details of the abstract sent in your private portal on the website. If you see an error, please notify this via the email address: congreso.cientifico@seorl.net
  • Once the abstract submission deadline has passed, the only changes allowed will be those due to errors in authors and/or work centers, no changes to scientific content will be accepted, and thelast day to do so will be 10th of May, 2026 at 23:59h (Madrid time). After this date, no corrections of any kind will be accepted.
  • Make sure you include the full name of your Hospital and/or University in the form, in its corresponding section. It is important that this name is not in the title or the abstract itself.
  • Both the first author of each work and the author in charge of presenting the work at the congress should be formally registered for the congress.
  • In the abstracts submission form, you can indicate if you want your work to be considered for any of the awards organized by the SEORL-CCC, as long as they comply with the requirements that appear in the “awards” section of this website.

Abstract submission deadline (non-extendable):

April, 2026

Quality criteria

  • Scientific integrity: the summary should reflect real data that are consistent with the methodology and are verifiable.
  • Fair evaluation: the text of the abstract should not contain anything that identifies authors or centers.
  • Traceability: the corresponding author for sending the abstract guarantees the authorship, permissions, and veracity of the information provided.
  • Clinical focus: priority is given to relevance for ENT practice and related specialties, patient safety, and applicability.
  • Ethical and legal compliance: confidentiality, consent, and ethical approval, when needed.

Authorship and limits

The corresponding author submitting the abstract acts as the point of contact and assumes responsibility for ensuring that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final content and that authorship requirements (substantial contribution) are met:

  • A maximum of three works as first author will be admitted, whatever the format sent may be.
  • The maximum number of authors is limited to
    • Instructional courses: 3
    • Other formats: 6

Originality and duplicates

  • The summary should be original. Neither duplication nor artificial fragmentation of results will be accepted.
  • If it is detected that the same abstract has been sent in two or more different formats (oral/video/poster), the Committee may reclassify it as a Poster Communication due to editorial criteria and fairness.
    • An abstract will be considered the same when the objective, sample, and main results are substantially the same, even if the title differs.

Ethical, legal, and transparency requirements

  • Confidentiality (in all cases): the inclusion of data that may identify patients is prohibited. These should be anonymized.
  • Ethical approval (when applicable): indicate whether the study has the approval of the Research Ethics Committee (REC) or an exemption/equivalent designation in accordance with your center’s norms.
  • Conflicts of interest and financing: abstracts that are accepted and are going to be included in the scientific program should have a complete and signed Declaration of Conflicts of Interest (DCI). If there is financing or financial support, this should also be declared on the DCI.

Format of the abstract

  • Abstracts may be sent in two languages: Spanish and English, and they must be defended in the same language that the work was submitted in.
  • The “Title” field is limited to 250 characters (with spaces).
  • The “abstract” cannot be more than 3500 characters (with spaces).
  • To achieve a certain uniformity in the style, we ask that you:
    • Not leave blank lines between the different paragraphs of the abstract.
    • Try not to include lists in the abstract.
  • The obligatory structure of the abstract, in line with the international organization rules, is as follows:
    1. Introduction (context and objectives)
    2. Materials and Methods (design, sample, procedure, variables, analysis)
    3. Results (findings)
    4. Conclusion/Discussion (interpretation, implications, limitations)
  • Data should be included in the results (numerical/statistical, when applicable). In qualitative studies, methodologically backed findings will be accepted (sample, technique, and analysis).
  • The abstracts will be published in the App and Abstract Book as they are received; orthographic or grammatical corrections will not be made.

Specific rules for each kind of work

These guidelines aim to ensure a consistent, transparent submission, review, and publication process aligned with the standards of our Scientific Society. Abstract submission implies full acceptance of these conditions.

Oral/posters/videos communications

  • Oral Communication: reserved for studies with solid methodology, robust results, and clinical relevance. Exceptionally, conceptual oral communications may be accepted.
  • Works that refer to a short series of observations or clinical cases should be sent in Poster Communication format.
  • Video Communication: geared towards a surgical technique or procedures, prioritizing didactic clarity, safety, and reproducibility. Selection criteria, critical steps, and results/follow-up will be taken into consideration, where applicable.
  • The communications with the best evaluations will be presented in the selected communications sessions and be eligible for an award, as long as that option has been selected on the form.
  • The guidelines for the preparation and submission of posters, oral presentations, and/or videos will be sent once the abstract has been accepted by the Scientific Review Committee.

Instructional courses

  • The selection of instructional courses will be based on their educational value, with due consideration to quality, a clear teaching focus, and practical applicability.
  • The scientific committee can propose instructional courses that are of special interest or were highly rated in previous editions.
  • A limit of one course per author will be established, regardless of whether they are the main course director, and a maximum of three speakers per course.
  • Along with the notification of the Scientific Review Committee’s decision, we will send you the technical guidelines for the instructional courses.

Research forum

  • The works submitted should be original and cannot have been published, whether in whole or in part.
  • 5 works will be chosen for the Research Forum session. If more works are received, the 6 best ones will be chosen, and the committee will gauge how to present the works not selected. Priority will be given to abstracts derived from funded research projects (FIS, CICYT, regional programs, etc.) or those that have formed part of doctoral theses.
  • The selected works will be presented during the Research Forum session within the scientific program of the Congress.
  • Once your abstract has been accepted for participation in this session, you must submit the complete and expanded paper exclusively in PDF format (8–10 single-spaced pages, 12-point font) to congreso.premios@seorl.net by 19 July 2026 at 23:59 h (Madrid time).
  • The work should follow the international organization rules: title,
introduction, materials and methods, results, and discussion/conclusion.
  • Only work done by Residents or Specialists who have completed their residency in a maximum time frame of 15 years may be sent.

Registration, presentation, and penalties

  • Both the first author of each work and the author in charge of presenting the work at the congress should be formally registered for the congress.
  • Failure to comply with any of the rules set out in these regulations entitles SEORL-CCC to cancel the presentation of the work during the Congress.
  • Failure to present an accepted abstract without justified cause may result in sanctions by SEORL-CCC, such as temporary restrictions on submitting abstracts to its National Congress.

Author rights and publication licensing

  • The intellectual property of the abstracts corresponds to the authors, who retain their moral rights.
  • By submitting the abstract through the corresponding form, the authors grant the Spanish Society of Otorhinolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to reproduce, distribute, and publicly communicate the content of the abstract, as well as to make it available through the Congress Abstract Book, the App, and the Congress website, and for archiving and informational dissemination related to the Congress.
  • The SEORL-CCC may make strictly necessary formatting adaptations (layout, minor typographical corrections, metadata) without altering the scientific content, and may translate the abstract title solely for dissemination and accessibility purposes.
  • The authors guarantee that the content is original and that they have the permission necessary for any third-party material included.

Opting for award consideration

In the form provided for sending abstracts, you can indicate if you want your work to be considered for any of the awards organized by the SEORL-CCC, as long as they comply with the requirements that appear in the “awards” section of this website.
